Cakes for All Occasions

June 22, 2016

Well, it seems like I better get it together to write up a new post. I thought we would go over some of our favorite recent cakes and cookies. So, without further delay, here are a few of my favorite cakes from the past couple of weeks.

The perfect groom's cake for a patriotic Philadelphia, this was both challenging and fun to work on.

This fun donut wedding cake was the main cake that accompanied the Liberty Bell groom's cake. Its a wedding cake that Homer Simpsons would envy.

Bumblebees! My sister recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with her MFA in animation. These bees were a gift for her, since SCAD'S mascot is a bee. She recently started working at Blue Sky animation studios, those are the people who made the Ice Age movies. In honor of her new job, she also wanted adorable acorn themed cookies to represent the company.

I love these adorable baby shower cookies. This mom-to-be was having a ocean themed shower for a little girl. I really like how the gold stands out against the mint green and pink onesies.

Staying with the marine life theme, we have this pretty whale cake that we made for our summer display window. I love the quieter color palate and the pretty ombre gray-blues. It could work as a baby shower or a birthday cake. It could even be used for a wedding, if one was so inclined.

Here we have another take on an aquatic cake. This time it's much more whimsical! Courtesy of our wonderful intern, she made this fun fish scale and ruffles cake. We even added some rock candy crystals as the garnish.

Now, we leave the ocean for the shore. This fun cake made the trip all the way to the beach for a fabulous 13th birthday party. We had a great time painting all the graffiti on the cake with food coloring.

Last, but not least, we made this super fun Harry Potter book cake. A combination of buttercream, modeled fondant, hand painted accents and edible printing brought this cake to life. I'm really happy with how it came out. Plus, I got to dig out my Harry Potter hard-covers and bring them to work with me!
